Abstract

Angular differential cross sections for electron scattering in electron-ion collisions were measured by developing a toroidal analyzer. A two-dimensional position sensitive detector was used to record the energy and angular dispersed electorn images. The uncertainty from the scattering angle was estimated with the width of the diagonal line of the parallelogram formed by the overlap between the ion and electron beams. The relative differential cross sections for both ions were found to be in good agreement with the theoretical predictions in the angular range from 34° to 85°.
