Abstract
Large universities with little distance education experience now face mainstreaming 'elearning'. One challenge is supporting university teachers to change their practices. The authors describe the 'CHS eLearning Resource and Staff Support Project' at the University of Sydney, which delivered an online suite of elearning strategy examples relevant to health disciplines/professions and a window of opportunity for direct personal consultation on educational and technical development. Rogers' theory on diffusion of innovations is used to critically reflect on this strategic project. The authors conclude that Rogers' work could be used both in planning at the commencement of an elearning professional development project and as an evaluative tool.
