Abstract
Treatment of [M(CO)n] (n = 6, M = Cr, Mo, W; n = 5, M = Fe) successively with LiNiPr2, (CF3CO)2O, and PPh3 leads to the thermally stable diisopropylaminomethylidyne complexes [M(CNiPr2)(O2CCF3)(CO)3(PPh3)] (M = Cr, Mo, W) and [Fe(CNiPr2)(O2CCF3)(CO)2(PPh3)] in high yield. The latter is the first neutral mononuclear carbyne complex of iron.
