Direct decays from superdeformed states in 192Pb observed using time-correlated γ-ray spectroscopy

    Abstract

    The presence of isomeric states in the ND well was exploited in order to identify single-step transitions linking superdeformed and yrast levels in 192Pb. Six single-step transitions were observed. The data firmly establish the excitation energy and parity of the SD band and suggest the spin of the lowest level is 8ℏ.
