    Abstract

Inspired by the concept of leaky-wave antennas, designs for directed radiation were recently developed in the context of nano-particle arrays [1] , [2] and plasmonic nanowire waveguides [3]. Notably, in these two cases, emission predominantly occurs in longitudinal direction. In this work, we demonstrate how arrays of evanescently coupled optical waveguides may likewise serve as leaky-wave antennas, and show that they can be tailored to selectively emit radiation within the plane of the lattice.
