Abstract
e estimate total factor productivity (TFP) based on Malmquist productivity indices. The TFP indices are decomposed into technological change and technical efficiency change (catch-up). The technical efficiency change is further decomposed into the product of pure technical efficiency change and scale efficiency change. This enables us to investigate how different sources have affected the banking productivity during the period of financial liberalisation.
