Abstract
The excitations of the metastable states of helium were analyzed for the double photoionization and ionization effects. The electron transitions were described using momentum space formulations of the close-coupling theory. The range of photon energy from double-photoionization threshold level to the asymptotic level was covered by the investigation. The contributions of the different methods of two-electron photoionization in both the metastable and ground states were discussed.
