Abstract
The real economy is much broader than the market economy. It includes everything that contributes to human well-being, and that includes a whole range of nonmarketed ecosystem services and natural and social capital assets. This broader ‘ecological economy’ needs to be the focus of analysis, planning, and policy if our goals are to provide sustainable human well-being.
