Abstract
During times of great uncertainty, it’s human nature to retreat to what is close, tangible and known. The health crisis, social distancing and economic shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic creates fertile ground for nationalism and intolerance. That fear is easy for political leaders to feed and take advantage of, but history has shown time and again that nothing good results.
