Abstract
ohnson1 highlights a very important emerging issue, made more topical by the recent budget pressure on primary health services and the paucity of funding for preventative health. She calls for the public health sector to show leadership and take action now if a crisis is to be avoided and we are to make any advances in reducing the health burden associated with climate change. The near total silence on climate change and its health effects during the recent election campaign only reinforces the need for action as Johnson suggests.
