    Abstract

    Investigating the visual as a transformative pedagogy in the Asia Region surveys perspectives from a number of academics in the greater Asian region, including co-authorship of the opening chapter, Emerging Asian Paradigms - Visual Pedagogy, Culture and Technology�. The chapter includes a discussion of the Digital Bamboo research project, offered as an example of the transformative potential of Art and Design led education models which both engage and critique the effects of emerging digital technologies on traditional education methods, arts practices, vocational potential and cultural challenges present in the rapidly evolving Asian region.
