Abstract
The novel Esequie is situated between innovation and tradition. After a start between noir and macabre pulp we move on to a narrative that seems to have emerged from the western movies and the American detective classics, with Inspector Kozlowski and his colleagues, the dry descriptions of the sleeping town of Kausheena County (Hudson, Wisconsin) in exterminated mid-west that Kipfler knows very well, having been born there.
