    Abstract

It has been an extraordinarily difficult task to come to any conclusion as to what accommodation should be provided for this residence, as it is practically certain that the accommodation which for instance would suit Mr Bruce would be in excess of what say Mr Charlton [ALP Member for Hunter, NSW, Leader of the Opposition] would require. On the other hand, it is felt that the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth should be housed in a private residence and not have to be subjected to the public life of an hotel and the continuous importunities which would inevitably follow, and this being admitted, it would appear that accommodation must be made available on the larger rather than on the smaller scale.
