    Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the economic convergence of the European Union in terms of the effects of European Monetary Union (EMU), which began in 1999 and possible conflict with, 'social mobility' in Europe. Our focus is on the low rate of mobility in the labour market. We assume that this is due to psychological and social aspects.
