Abstract

The chapter examines the development of social contribution indicators in Chinese higher education. After launching the analysis, the chapter examines how social engagement contributions are being reframed in Chinese higher education. The discussion moves to looking at the curation of recent policy research which has sought to design novel information which has the potential to illuminate and guide growth. The final section evaluates progress so far, and options for further development. The chapter synthesizes theoretical perspectives, contributes an evaluation framework, and articulates contemporary circumstances in the world's largest higher education system.
