Abstract
Evidence-based management (EBMgt) represents a model of decision-making that helps managers and leaders more accurately identify problems and opportunities and likely solutions or interventions to increase the likelihood of favorable outcomes. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a broad non-technical overview of the principles of evidence-based practice (EBP) and then discuss some of the ways in which they can be incorporated into management education (ME). Our aim is neither to be prescriptive nor to suggest there is only one way to teach the knowledge and skills involved in EBMgt. Rather, by presenting a range of practical examples of courses and curriculum design we illustrate how EBP can be used as a flexible guiding framework to design suitable ME solutions in a range of contexts. Last, we consider some of the challenges to teaching evidence-based management, how they can be overcome and their implications.
