Abstract
Soliton explosions in a solid state passively mode-locked laser was experimentally and numerically studied. Mode-locked lasers provide an excellent test bed for soliton dynamics because as represent an infinite propagation distance with identical conditions. The results showed that the explosions occur spontaneously, but external perturbation can trigger them and also they have similar features, but are not identical.
