    Abstract

The Technology of teleoperation is used in many areas such as space, undersea, mining, toxic, and other hazardous environments. This requires visual information and communication references to be deployed in conjunction with an enhanced human machine interface. Recently, the use of video display or virtual reality environment plays an important role in delivering information to the operator. To provide sufficient information about the remote environment in teleoperation interfaces, we explored the characteristics of game engines as well as their similarities with the teleoperation interface. We examined a virtual game environment called Second Life (SL), and this paper aims to discover how a virtual game might be applied in teleoperation interfaces to obtain accurate information from a remote location. More specifically, we will demonstrate what is required and not currently available from a game environment that can act as a teleoperation interface.
