External and Internal Stability of Linear Systems—A New Connection

Abstract

Finite-dimensional linear systems are considered with the properties of uniform complete controllability and observability. It is shown that exponential asymptotic stability of the homogeneous part of the system is equivalent to the system mapping inputs with finite £2norm into outputs with finite £2 norm.
