Abstract
The phase structure of SU(2)/Z2 lattice gauge theory at finite temperature is studied. We predict a phase diagram consistent with certain general properties revealed by an analysis of the hamiltonian version of the theory, and check our predictions against the results of Monte Carlo calculations on 83 × 4, 83 × 3 and 83 × 2 lattices. The effect of 't Hooft's twisted boundary conditions on SU(N)/ZN lattice gauge theory is also discussed.
