    Abstract

A finite element model was developed to simulate the stamp forming of CF/PEEK sheets. This model was validated based on stamp forming experiments performed under various blankholder forces, in which the evolution of strain was measured and compared to the results of finite element simulations. The model accurately simulates the evolution of strain as observed in the experimental trials, and correctly predicts the deformation and drawing behaviour at the die. The simulation also provides an insight into the effect of the blankholder force, and the failure mechanisms observed in the forming process.
