Future Forecasts: Colour matching imaginary forecasts for a future heat map

    Research output: Non-textual formDigital work

    Abstract

'Future Forecasts' is an ongoing, live, online artwork in the form of a Twitter Bot. It algorithmically generates nonsensical weather forecasts and imaginary colour names to evoke our emotional response to extreme weather. By matching this text to swatches of a range of HEX colour codes for different shades of purple, it references the Bureau of Meteorology's addition of a new colour 'incandescent purple' to Australia's heat map in 2013 to visualise unprecedented temperatures in Central Australia.
