Abstract
The gauge transformation between retarded and multipolar gauges was presented. For this purpose, the retarded solutions to the inhomogeneous wave equations for the electromagnetic scalar and vector potentials were discussed. It was shown that the gauge function in terms of the charge and current source densities was obtained for a gauge transformation. The three-vector version of the multipolar gauge described the interaction of atoms with radiation.
