    Abstract

We present a resolution R ≈ 6000 optical spectrum of the afterglow of GRB060210 obtained with GMOS spectrograph on the Gemini South Telescope. The spectrum shows a main absorption system at redshift z = 3.9122 which we identify as the GRB host galaxy. We identify and characterise a Damped Lya system (DLA) at this redshift with N(HI) = 21.7 ± 0.2, and note the presence of two intervening absorption systems at z = 3.81 and x = 1.47, respectively. An array of metal absorption features is detected in the GRB host galaxy and we determine the column densities for these species. The host galaxy has metallicity Z ∼ 0.1Z . We detect also the SiII* fine-structure transition.
