Abstract
After a year of commissioning, GeMS/GSAOI, the Gemini MCAO system and its NIR imager, obtained the first compensated images in December 2011. H band Strehl ratios in excess of 35% and FWHMs of or below 50 mas were obtained, in good seeing condition, averaged over the GSAOI field of view of 85×85 arcsec, with an excellent uniformity.
