N2 - This article argues that the processes ofglobalization, Asian growth, and Asian crisis are gendered. It begins with a briefreview of globalization before tracing its impact on women in Asia. It then interrogates the mobilization of particular constructions of masculinity and femininity to ensure the business of state making and global capital, and the symbolic uses of gender in reconstructing national and interstate identity politics. It concludes with attention to feminist sites, and sightings, in these new global times.
