    Abstract

In addition to dealing with climate variability, adaptation to climate change is already part of cropping systems management in Australia. In some instances adaptation can turn a problem into an opportunity or at least reduce climate-related vulnerability. For the wheat industry alone, relatively simple adaptations to future climate change may be worth between $100 million to
$500 million per year at the farm gate. Further benefits are likely if a wider range of adaptations is practised but these are yet to be evaluated.
