Hanoi is choking on air pollution beyond the city limits

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationGeneral Articlepeer-review

Abstract

Air pollution in Hanoi is causing widespread health problems and productivity losses. While the government is moving to phase out petrol vehicles and curb urban emissions, much of the city’s pollution comes from external sources such as straw burning, recycling villages and agricultural ammonia. A coordinated national strategy, supported by international partners, is needed to secure clean air for Hanoi and beyond.
