Abstract

Peptide biochemistry is rapidly evolving, with significant advancements reshaping our understanding and application of peptides in therapeutic applications. In this TrendsTalk, authors from three articles featured in this Focus issue delve into the promising future of the field, highlighting anticipated breakthroughs in the discovery of peptides with therapeutic potential. They discuss strategies for enhancing the pharmacokinetic properties of peptides to bolster their metabolic, antimicrobial, or anticancer activities. Additionally, they emphasize the critical role of academia–industry partnerships in translating research into clinical applications and promoting the sustainable growth of peptide therapeutics.
