    Abstract

The artists in the exhibition are encounters with abstract art and range from recent graduates of the Australian University of Art to some of the most significant contemporary practitioners in the country. The works include glass, painting, print-media and sculpture and many of them explore themes of cellular and crystalline structure. The exhibition contextualized my practice within a community of researchers from the School of Art & Design, ANU. The Curator, Mark Bailey looked a conversations across media in building the narratives for the exhibition, drawing on conversations and exchanges that were not wrought in medium or wider visual art cannons. Instead Bailey looked at through community and the contexts of teaching and learning germaine to the School of Art & Design and the University.
