    Abstract

Key thinkers in other industries have argued that by responding to the context, conduct and culture of those being regulated - known as responsive regulation - policies are more likely to succeed. This discussion paper by Judith Healy from the Australian National University in Canberra examines the role of responsive regulation and its application to healthcare to drive improvements in safety.
