    Abstract

As a folk music form, the street choirs are a cousin of the outdoor singing traditions of rabble-rousers such as union choirs and demonstration chanters, of flash mobs or of ancient calling-voiced vocal accompaniment to dancers such as in the Sardinian and Corsican traditions (Nathan 2015).
