Abstract

The construct of cultural landscape, as a way of understanding the interaction between people and their built and natural environments, has been in academic and practitioner discourses on culture, society, and place over many decades. This introduction to The Routledge Handbook of Cultural Landscape Heritage in The Asia-Pacific outlines how the objective of the volume is to take both a retrospective and prospective view of the concept and management of cultural heritage in the Asia-Pacific region through the lens of cultural landscape approach, whose heritage undoubtedly need broader and innovative approaches for effective heritage conservation.
