Abstract
Thomas White and Natasha Fijn have edited the Special Section: Multispecies co-existence in Inner Asia. Their paper ‘Resituating Domestication in Inner Asia’ provides a substantial theoretical introduction to human relations with animals in the domestic sphere in Inner Asia which draws together contributions from: Bumochir Dulam, Byambabaatar Ichinkhorloo & Ariell Ahearn, ‘Herd Agency: Rethinking Herd–Herder Relations in Mongolia and Qinghai, China’; Katherine Swancutt, ‘Animal Release and the Sacrificial Ethos in Inner Asia’; K.G. Hutchins, ‘The Melodious Hoofbeat: Ungulate Rhythms in the Post-socialist Conservatory’; and Alex Oehler, ‘The Care Work of Balance: Apportioning Life in Soyot Herder-Hunter Households of the Eastern Sayan Mountains’.
