    Abstract

This is the first of the altogether 19 volumes of the acts of the XII. Congress of the International Association of German Studies , which took place in Warsaw from July 29 to August 7, 2010. It was the first congress of the association founded in Rome in 1955, which was organized in the part of Europe east of the Elbe. During the congress, lectures were also given and discussed in pleno, but mainly within sections, which were dedicated to various sections of current global German studies and at the same time reflected their thematic and methodological plurality - their inherent wealth. In total, 60 sections took part in the congress. In pleno, three lectures were given and eight panels were held. The documentation of the plenary events fills the 2nd volume of this series. The other 17 volumes contain the most important results of the sections held during the Warsaw Congress.
