Abstract
'Klassik Underground', founded by German-based Australian Violist Tahlia Petrosian explores and experiments with creative concert delivery of classical music concerts. Her internationally-feted concert series shatters expectations, unsettle scores, and bend the rules of classical performance. (Illuminate Adelaide website, 2023). Returning to the Dom Polski Centre following a highly successful (5-star review, Limelight) 2022 series, KLASSIK underground drew on Petrosian's deep network of local and international collaborators to curate a two-part series of concerts that blur the lines between classical sounds, visual art, and alternative spaces. This unique pair of concerts shone light on classical and contemporary canons through cutting edge visual worlds created by Tim Gruchy. Featuring a seven-piece A-team of Australian talent on the Friday and select members of the world-renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra in a tailored string quartet on the Saturday, KLASSIK underground's two-night sold out concerts delivered unexpected and inspired engaging of music with the senses in an innovative way.
