    Abstract

This hard science fiction novel is set in Australia during the second half of the 21st century. The main character was raised by robotic nurses who convinced him that there is an equation for everything. Because of this, the novel contains many formulas in a variety of fields.
This is dystopian novel like 1984, A brave new world, We, Fahrenheit 451, The handmaid Tale and The Three Body Problem. However, it is also a black humour parody of those and other dystopian novels, as well as recent novels set in a climate-change-induced catastrophic future.
The novel is posed to answer several research questions (or “what if” scenarios):
    What will happen if
    a) hard sciences are treated like humanities in terms of research funding, and Australia gets a Lysenko-like scenario that rewards scientific compliance?
    b) there is contact with extra-terrestrials who state unambiguously that global warming is induced by humanity?
Many worldbuilding techniques were used to create a setting in which those questions are answered. Those include using equations to create subplots.

Besides answering the research questions, the novel develops the use of equations as literary devices, transgressing the totemic role they traditionally have in the sciences.
The novel was published by Ediciones Ayarmanot in Buenos Aires. This is the one of the most important publishing houses of avant-garde science fiction in the Spanish-speaking world. It is also the publisher of the influential magazine Proxima, printed simultaneously in Spain and Argentina. The novel was presented at the Buenos Aires book fair in 2019.
Exegetical responses to the worldbuilding techniques of the novel were presented at peer-reviewed Australian literary conferences, like Frankenstein 2018 and the National Literary Studies Convention.
