    Abstract

Exciton-polariton condensates-quantum fluids of light and matter-form in semiconductor microcavities in the strong coupling regime, when bound electron-hole pairs called excitons hybridise with cavity photons. At certain conditions, these quantum fluids can behave as a superfluid that can flow without resistance even at room temperature, making them promising for device applications of macroscopically coherent quantum systems.
