Abstract
The lifetime and predissociation yield of 14N 2b 1π u(v=1) were investigated. The quantitative model for the predissociation of the lowest b-state levels of N 2 was based on a coupled-channel Schrödinger-equation (CSE) treatment. CSE calculation of the radiative, predissociative, and total lifetimes of the b(μ) level of N 2 were also developed. Using the model the electronic transition moments were reduced by 13.4% in order to optimize agreement with oscillator strength.
