    Abstract

The coupling between the elements of a metamaterial is of great importance in understanding the bulk response. In addition, it can also give rise to a variety of linear and nonlinear effects. In this talk several of these effects are presented, including strong optical activity, control of nonlinear frequency shift, and magneto-elasticity, an exotic new form of nonlinear response.
