    Abstract

Research Question: What is the optimal process for a professional modern flautist to learn historical flutes, without compromising the modern flute playing level? Hypotheses: • structured and organised approach, isolated practice, switch practice • role of learning a second language would be significant • physiological practitioners on learning methods and injury prevention Conclusion: • evidence emerged to support each of these hypotheses • neurological explanations behind compromised first language/first instrument technique discovered.
