    Abstract

To date there have been many case studies and reports about the work conditions of Chinese migrant workers in factories that produce for export to the developed world. These studies have raised international concerns. This chapter focuses on the labor conditions of such workers from a new perspective. It unveils the mechanisms of “sweated labor” in China’s export industry by analyzing the relationship between wages and overtime work hours at nine Walmart supplier factories in the garment and toy industries.
