Abstract

The AusSTS [Australian Science and Technology Studies] Making & Doing program called for proposals for displays of experimental work and descriptive and interpretive practices that are best presented in embodied interaction. The pop-up exhibition session encouraged displays of materials which activate in-person and in-place engagements through speculative, participatory and/or aesthetic approaches to the study of science, technology, and society (STS). Organisers encouraged a focus on reflexive considerations of how STS knowledge is itself made and done in particular times and places. As a single session within the AusSTS program, this event looked towards ways that STS scholars may share and learn from one another about Making & Doing practices of STS knowledge work, highlighting efforts of “making do”, “remaking” and “making together” in enacting accountabilities around responsiveness and responsibilities in-place.
