    Abstract

While there are many studies concerning university-industry collaboration, there is less in the literature specifically relating to business schools. We are interested in innovation management strategies relevant to business schools taking into consideration their operating environment. Given that the traditional commercialisation approach is not centric to the knowledge transfer processes of business schools, this research will help understand how to better leverage knowledge transfer models that will generate impact. The aim of this project is to develop better understanding and insight into mechanisms for business schools to engage with industry in order to draw lessons and potentially replicate practices that bring success. We present a conceptual research framework that captures academic-industry engagement for business schools. Two case studies are then conducted to explore the framework and inform the future development of a survey to study academic-industry engagement at a target university.
