Abstract
A concert of 'Miniatures' was devised to complement the COVID-19 reduced concert format restrictions. The highly developed French impressionistic art of capturing and freezing of an instant and transforming it into a sensual moment was the intention of these elegant, and by turns witty, miniatures. At the time of these compositions, all of the arts were very intermingled, and many aspects of French culture and language had an impact on the music in the case of the works of Faur, Bsser, Gaubert and Satie. Contemporaneous works by Amy Beach (USA), Grainger (Australia) and Reger (Germany) demonstrate the expansive appeal of this musical form.
