    Abstract

The concept of 'molecules of light' was discussed. The stationary properties of 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional composite solitons as well as their stability were also studied. The transverse instability of 1-dimensional vector soliton stripes that leads to the formation of an array of dipole-mode vector solitons was further investigated.
