    Abstract

    An introduction to the key themes of the 2019 federal election campaign, including voter distrust, populism and personalisation of politics and the effects of the digital transformation of campaigning. The latter reflected the global shift whereby parties on the right, including radical right populist parties, more than matched the left in their use of digital technology and compounded voter distrust.
