Abstract
Following the five star reviewed performance (Limelight, 2019) of Omega Ensemble's 'American Masters' concert at City Recital Hall, Sydney, two world premiere recordings are at the heart of this new release from Omega Ensemble, an album that explores the modern tradition through works by American composers Nico Muhly and Philip Glass. The three Muhly works on this album, including the title work commissioned for Omega Ensemble and featuring baritone Brett Brown, wear their influences proudly while also leaping forward into new modes of musical expression with extraordinary instrumental textures. These works are accompanied by Glass' pulsating Violin Sonata No. 1 performed by Aria award-winning pianist Sally Whitwell and violinist Alexandra Osborne MUHLY No Uncertain Terms * MUHLY Unexpected News * MUHLY By All Means GLASS Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano * World premiere recordings Omega Ensemble / Gordon Hamilton / Sally Whitwell / Brett Brown / Alexandra Osborne
