    Abstract

How can language instructors facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences in remote classes? Despite the convenience and flexibility regarding time and space, one of the challenges with distance learning in language education is that most students practice alone at home without a language partner sitting next to them. Using Advanced Korean: Film and Society as a case study, this presentation suggests a few strategies for utilising multimedia resources for interactive language and culture education. Rather than following a technology-driven approach, this presentation focuses on online resources and activities that are available to both teachers and learners. As alternative ways to make up for the lack of interaction in remote classes, special attention is given to how to incorporate film reviews on YouTube, a dubbing app and a group video or audio project into in-class activities and assessment tasks. To conclude, this presentation will show that the use of these oral, aural and visual resources requires careful planning to meet the goals of enhancing students interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communication skills
