Abstract
In 2005, Bright gave numerical evidence that among the family of time reversible deterministic thermostats known as μ -thermostats, the conventional μ=1 thermostat proposed by Hoover and Evans is the only thermostat that is capable of generating an equilibrium state. Using the recently discovered relaxation theorem, we give a mathematical proof that this is true.
